About Us

Both born and raised in Thunder Bay, Kris and Erinn DeLorenzi have a love for the city and all the local ingredients it provides. Kris has traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe, Central America, and Australia and has woven those flavours in the kitchen. Erinn is family-trained and grew up baking and selling Christmas treats to friends and family. She continues to use the recipes her mother and grandparents used in yesteryear. Now raising their family in the city they adore, Kris and Erinn combine their local and international tastes to create sweet and savoury goods for the community.

About The Sweet North Bakery

It began in 2013 when Sleeping Giant Brewing Company approached Erinn to ask if she could make pretzels to celebrate their first anniversary. After being deemed a hit, she was encouraged to pursue selling them at the Thunder Bay Country Market. Soon thereafter, they were selling salted and cinnamon pretzels at the market, adding scones and cookies to their list of products. In November 2014, Kris and Erinn opened The Sweet North Bakery in downtown Port Arthur, Thunder Bay Ontario, a cafe which offers up soup, salad, and sandwiches as well as a variety of freshly baked goods (including the original pretzels).
